Based on Courage Directors Bitter, it begins with the familiar strength of pale malt, crystal warmth and caramalt sweetness, then wanders through Fuggle bitterness and East Kent Goldings aroma like signposts on a mythic road. There are Didacts and Narpets in its rhythm, temptation at the bridge, bright libations, searching, testing, and finally the quiet reward of arrival. A creamy, smooth and sessionable dark nitro porter, brewed in solemn tribute to the most unreasonable knights ever to lurk in a shrubbery. Ni! Ale takes the spirit of absurd British comedy and gives it a velvet-black cloak: pale, Munich and amber malts provide depth and biscuit warmth, while chocolate malt, roasted barley and oats create a soft cascade of coffee, cocoa, toast and dark caramel. Fuggle, East Kent Goldings and a restrained touch of Bramling Cross bring earthy English bitterness with a faint hedgerow-fruit lift. Best served cool, smooth and cascading, preferably beside roast meat, mature cheddar, and absolutely no herrings
